Formed in the autumn of 1999 by DJ Vadim, to perform tracks from his album tracks live, The Russian Percussion takes live hip-hop to new heights, as Vadim brings master turntablists on tour with him in this dazzling cutting edge hip-hop extravaganza. Russian Percussion has performed over 100 shows in over 14 countries but never yet in the States. Released and unreleased are reworked live on the spot. Well loved routines are expanded, cover versions of more famous tracks performed and exclusive freestyle jams both musical and vocal, evolve, keeping the energy high and each show unique. DJ Vadim
Founder of Jazz Fudge in early 1995, A&R, producer, DJ, promoter, beat digger and occasional painter, DJ Vadim has been more than active in the past 5 years in nearly every aspect of hip-hop music. He has been DJing hip-hop, breaks, beats, funk, and even jungle (at 33 1/3rd), for over 12 years. He's performed with the likes of DJ Krush, Company Flow, The Arsonists, Pharcyde, ISP, DJ Theodore, Beat Junkies, Dilated Peoples, Kraftwerk, Ed Rush, Morcheeba, at events from Glastonbury to Moscow Street ball, and everywhere between. After four releases on Jazz Fudge, Vadim signed to Ninja Tune and released his debut Ninja LP 'USSR Repertoire'. From these early recordings came the classic remix LP - 'USSR Reconstruction', featuring DJ krush, Kid Koala, Mark B, Silent Poets (for Ninja Tune and Jazz Fudge), a CD with DJ Primecuts (world ITF champ 99 and Scratch Pervert), the abstract funk of The Isolationist LP, world tours with Swollen Members/CO Flow/ Task Force/The Isolationist/Ninja Tune, and thousands of dusty obscure vinyls. All of which transports us to the latest album 'USSR : Life From The Other Side', featuring everyone from The Scratch Perverts to the incredible Sarah Jones. As part of The Russian Percussion, DJ Vadim co-writes all the music, performs ambidextrous, decktastic duties, alongside with five other, equally talented Hip hop maestros.
